Building a sustainable accessories brand that goes beyond greenwashing

The Challenge

A multi-million-dollar global accessories brand wanted to formalise its sustainability efforts and obtain official certification. The brand was established in the sector and had already made substantial efforts in this area, but it didn’t want to be seen as greenwashing. The company wanted to go beyond just receiving a certification and entrench sustainability into its processes.

The Resolution

The company had the right elements in place but did not know how to deliver the finer details of sustainability, so we helped to establish principles such as lifetime warrantee, repairs and a circular economy. We also put the necessary guidelines in place, including setting up employee health and safety processes, creating a sustainability manifesto, organising educational sustainability workshops and training for employees, and creating recycling points throughout the company.

The Result

The company has since received official certification, but, more importantly, the awareness and culture of sustainability is now well established within the company.  The brand is looking into using alternative materials for production, as well as investing further in education and training. As well as this, it partners with educational institutions and has received an award for sustainability practices and innovation.

Growing leather goods sales through rebranding

The Challenge

A well-known traditional US leather goods label had steady sale results but was failing to meet profit targets. A new creative and management team had been appointed and wanted to boost profits effectively and sustainably, so they reached out to Moda Métiers for support in delivering these results.

The Resolution

Our initial proposal was that the company needed to be rebranded. The messaging, logo and design was revamped in order for people to connect more meaningfully with the label. Alongside this, we conducted workshops and focus groups with the management team and clients to align on what customers needed from the company and hired a new creative lead from a major American brand to deliver these findings effectively. We also recommended and hired the right digital marketing agency to help grow the online following.

The Result

As a result of our continuing consultation, the brand has a new look and feel, a new collection and a fresh new digital output – all contributing to increased sales. Today, the company has more than half a million followers, and has established itself as a diverse American brand that stands for quality and durability.

Launching a new accessories brand into major UK department stores

The Challenge

One client had a lifelong dream and desire to start a handbag and accessories brand. However, when she approached us, it was only an idea – she had only gone as far as purchasing some sample bags online from a Spanish-based manufacturer. She needed guidance around the practical steps for setting up her retail business.

The Resolution

We started from the beginning by defining her strategy and then her branding. After that, we helped hire the right team to design the initial collection, and source manufacturers and suppliers. We organised trips to trade fairs and suppliers to help her understand the raw materials and production processes involved. We also made introductions to an atelier in Italy that works with leading luxury leather goods, which is where she produced her initial collection. We also worked together with client, and the branding team, in order to ensure the right message, look and feel was delivered throughout.

The Result

Our client secured major deals with two department stores in London, Fenwick’s and Fortnum & Mason, to carry her label, and we have since been working together on the merchandising. With our help, she has been able to build her idea into a successful leather bags and accessories brand, which is now expanding into scarves, jewellery and candles.

Expanding a jewellery brand’s offering into footwear

The Challenge

An established jewellery brand based in Paris, France wanted to expand into shoe sales. Having built up a loyal customer base, it wanted to increase the product line and boost sales across a new offering that would appeal to their tastes.

The Resolution

We helped strategise this new development of the company, overseeing branding and production. We provided introductions to producers, with several different options in Turkey, Spain and Italy, and consulted on sourcing and sample collection with suggestions of recommended suppliers.

The Result

The brand smoothly transitioned its systems and infrastructure towards the development of luxury footwear alongside its jewellery business. Shoe sales have continued to grow the business from strength to strength and provide more value for its loyal fanbase.

Rebranding a traditional Turkish accessories brand

The Challenge

A traditional Turkish accessories label wanted to modernise and update its brand through a complete redesign in order to grow its overall revenue. Alongside this, the company needed to consolidate its messaging and key pillars to ensure that communication with customers was clear.

The Resolution

By hiring the right team, from creative to online developers we implemented and oversaw the entire rebranding project. The new design, new collection and a honed brand story helped tie all the right elements together. To support this new look, we hired a videographer to create an immersive campaign video with vibrant and relevant creative. In order to further update the brand’s delivery, we launched an online store and all the relevant framework to support it.

The Result

The brand transformed itself from a quality but outdated label into a popular, modern accessories brand. The sleek design concept ran throughout the brand’s new look from design through to marketing and online sales, which helped boost productivity and profit.
